Because life happens.... Sometimes you just need a hand up - maybe you lost a job, or there was a death in the family, or perhaps a large medical bill arrives. At different times, in our lifes we need help. Johnson County Human Services helps our neighbors in need by providing services such as utility assistance and food pantry. Our food pantries flucuate through the year. We always can utilize donations of non-perishable food items, but another area most people forget about is hygiene. Did you know that residents can not use their EBT cards (formerly known as food stamps) for personal hygiene products such as toilet paper, shampoo, or soap. You can help!
1) Host a HYGIENE Drive-Collect items that can not be purchased with an EBT card
- Toilet Paper
- Hand/Bath Soap
- Shampoo/Conditioner
- Deodorant
- Lotion
- Toothbrush/Toothpaste
- Laundry Detergent
- Paper Towels
- Cleaning Products
- Dish Soap
2) Get Some Help- Ask your Work, Faith Organization, or Community Group to post something in their newsletter or social media about the hygiene drive and setup a collection bin for donations
3) Deliver- Schedule a time to drop off donations to one of our Multi-Service Centers 913-715-8859 or email Brandy.Hodge@jocogov.org
You can make a difference!
*Service hours available for this project as well - Collect 50 full size items, and earn 5 service hours

Mission Statement
"Providing essential human services as a safety net, targeting older adults, people with a disability, and low-income families, in order to support independence, dignity, and self-sufficiency."
Description
Johnson County Aging and Human Services needs and welcomes volunteers for programs, such as:
Food Pantries: Help Human Services staff meet the needs of low-income residents in one of three Multi-Service Centers, located in Gardner, Lenexa, and Mission. Volunteers can provide a hand in stocking the food pantry and also provide assistance with office administrative tasks.
Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels): Deliver a nutritious, hot, noon-day meal with a smile to homebound senior adults. You can choose from eight nutrition center locations to find one close to home, work, or school. Deliveries are made from approximately 10:45 am - noon. Volunteers deliver once a week as regular drivers, or when they are able as substitute drivers.
Catch-a-Ride : Through the Catch-A-Ride program, volunteers transport residents in their own vehicles to essential appointments in Johnson County. Volunteers set their own schedules.
Office Administration: Provide behind the scenes support at any Aging and Human Services office. Duties may include data entry, answering telephones, filing, preparing mailings, and other necessary office tasks.
