ORGANIZATION: Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation

Volunteers needed at our annual event, Discovery Gala 2016,The Wizard of Agua. This is a charity event to raise funds for the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation's events and programs. We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit in Carlsbad that operates the Discovery Center, an extraordinaire collection of hands on nature activities that allow visitors to "taste nature" experiencing both the lagoon and the ecological reserve that resides. We inspire people through education & outreach to preserve the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, as an accessible and healthy watershed.

Our event is our biggest fundraiser. The Gala includes, silent and live auctions, dinner, games, photo booths and is a whole evening event. Volunteers are needed for duties like helping with silent & live auctions, setting up, breaking down, selling raffle tickets, handing out gifts, and much more. There are a variety of shifts available. This is a really fun event and will be an awesome night. Food is provided for all volunteers. Email cmorgan@aguahedionda.org if interested.

Mission Statement

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (AHLF) was established as a non-profit corporation in 1990 to conserve, restore and enhance the environmental features of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, marsh, wetlands, and watershed areas. The AHLF operates the lovely Lagoon Discovery Center at 1580 Cannon Road in Carlsbad, where they holds numerous environmental educational programming every year.

Description

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation's objective is to:

-Advocate for the lagoon, promoting and assuring future lagoon vitality

-Promote balanced recreational and commercial uses of the lagoon and wetlands

-Provide strong support for public access, trails and recreational opportunities

-Develop and promote, through The Lagoon Discovery Center, educational programs to enhance community and visitor awareness and understanding of water resource and watershed-related environmental issues.
