IMPACT A YOUNG PERSON'S LIFE
Jersey Cares is looking for Success Coaches to take part in its ServiceWorks program.
ServiceWorks is a groundbreaking national program that utilizes volunteerism, Skills Training and Success Coaching to increase the chances of opportunity youth 16-24 getting into college and finding employment. You may find out more about it here: http://www.jerseycares.org/serviceworks.
Success Coaches are mentors and accountability partners. They help set SMART goals and teach resume writing, LinkedIn and other skills to their Service Scholars.
The Coaches meet with their Scholars at a location of their choice in Newark but most often the lion's share of the meetings are done remotely via Skype, conference call, group chat etc. A Success Coach may get into Newark for 2 or 3 of 10 meetings but reaching the Scholars is often a remote activity due to their schedules.
If you are looking for the opportunity to spend about three hours a week (with 2 to 3 Scholars) to make a difference in the lives of a few young adults, then this is a great opportunity for you. Volunteering also gives both the Scholars and Coaches increased employability prospects as those who volunteer without a job are 27% more likely to find a job than those who don't volunteer. Description
Jersey Cares works to meet community needs by making volunteering easy and meaningful. We provide flexible, structured, team-based opportunities for volunteers to impact a variety of nonprofit organizations and bring positive change to local communities. Jersey Cares works directly with local organizations to identify their needs, and trains volunteer leaders to manage projects that address those needs. Most projects are ongoing, and volunteers (other than the Project Coordinators) commit to only one day at a time. All of this enables you to volunteer whenever and however fits your interests and schedule, and yet always make a real difference. Simply choose "Volunteer" from the left menu to get started on your volunteering adventure!
