Tax Coach

ORGANIZATION: United Way of Greater Cincinnati

Volunteers work a "tax day" in a computer lab or classroom with multiple college students, high school students or workforce training participants, helping them to use an online tax preparation software and answering tax questions. Filing taxes is a key legal responsibility and enables low and moderate income workers to receive refunded tax withholding and tax credits that make a huge difference in meeting expenses.

While we also have volunteers preparing taxes for people, we know that many individuals can learn to do their own taxes online with a little help. Once they learn this crucial life skill, your students will be able to file their own taxes independently each year: they will not need to pay for services or rely on volunteer services. They'll feel confident in their own abilities and they'll be able to help friends and family, too.

Training is provided. 4 hour shifts.

We've currently reached capacity for this role for the 2017/2018 tax season, but you are welcome to sign up to receive more information on how you can volunteer for the 2018/2019 season.
