2016 Dave Drake Studio Barn Summer Internship Program
The Bascom Dave Drake Studio Barn is looking for hard working, motivated clay artists who are willing to learn and dedicate their time to improving their craft, the studio, and themselves. Internship artists share the space with other students in our program. Internship artists work side by side with other members of the Studio Barn to create a community environment. We embrace this approach as we feel it is better for everyone considering we are striving to offer the most learning opportunities for visitors, students, and interns. The goal of the program is to provide a space, an opportunity, and guidance for an individual who wants to pursue creative ideas in their own work while also learning how to maintain and manage the day to day needs of a community studio.
Work Schedule 20 hours per week. 10 work hours for the studio/ceramics department and 10 hours + for the personal studio practice per week.
Housing: Not provided
Payment
The intern is not provided any monetary stipend during work exchange for the studio. Instead, clay, firing, access to the studio, and the opportunity to be studio assistant for professional ceramic artists will serve as payment for work hours completed each week. The intern is allotted up to 25 lbs of clay for each 10 hours completed per week.
Art by Appointments @ $30.00 per session
