New Eyes for the Needy, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, is seeking a Treasurer to join our organization and assist us in our mission to provide clear vision to the poor in the US and throughout the developing world through the simple yet critical tool of eyeglasses. We are looking for a candidate with enthusiasm and integrity, ready to help New Eyes increase its services and raise its profile.

The Treasurer candidate must:

  • Attend board meetings (six/year)
  • Maintain knowledge of the organization and personal commitment to its goals and objectives
  • Understand financial accounting for nonprofit organizations
  • Manage the board's review of and action related to the board's financial responsibilities
  • Working with Executive Director and staff, provide appropriate financial reports to the board
  • Present the annual budget to the board for approval
  • Review the annual audit and answer board members' questions about the audit

A pair of glasses can transform a life. A child can succeed in school, an adult can find a job and a senior can live more independently and safely with the clear vision that new eyeglasses provide. The impact is deep and long-lasting!

Mission Statement

New Eyes for the Needy empowers children and adults in the United States and overseas with the improved vision they need to pursue a better quality of life for themselves, their families and their communities.

New Eyes purchases new prescription glasses through a voucher program for children and adults in the U.S. who cannot afford glasses on their own. New Eyes accepts, recycles and distributes donated glasses for poor people overseas.

Description

We are proud of our 84-year legacy of providing clear vision to those in need. The prescription eyeglasses we provide enable children to succeed in school, senior citizens to continue living independently, and working-poor adults to maintain employment.

Since its founding in 1932, New Eyes has helped 388,000 children and adults in the United States to see clearly. In addition, we've recycled more than 7,400,000 pair of eyeglasses, helping hundreds of thousands of indigent people in developing nations.
