ORGANIZATION: Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta

Together we can inspire the next generation of women to be confident and thoughtful leaders. With Girl Scouts, you will have the opportunity to share your own life experiences with girls who are eager to learn and grow.

The role: A Service Unit Troop Organizer (TO) is an exciting role tasked with helping match girls with troops that fit their criteria for age and troop meeting locations. The TO will partner with Council staff members to create recruitment events, secure meeting space in the community, assist in goal-setting, form troops in specific grade levels as well as multi-grade levels.

Training: The Council will provide online training and resources, free of charge. New Leader training must be completed within 4 months and Annual TO training is an on-going.

Volunteer Time Investment: One year

A TO is a necessary team-member of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta who makes a difference in the lives of girls in our community by placing girls in troops where they will thrive. We will work together to fulfill our Girl Scout mission: building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Mission Statement

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Description

Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent organization for girls with a current membership of 3.6 million girls and adults. Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best. Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities: leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math. Volunteers choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles, including short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls, and they can participate regionally, nationally, and internationally.
