The Contact Concern telephone Helpline operates 12 hours a day, Monday through Friday. We connect anyone in need with access to health and human services, including food programs, financial assistance for utilities or medical expenses, shelters, counseling services, support groups, domestic abuse shelters and addiction prevention or treatment. Our services are free and confidential. If you’re looking for something to do with your free time and would like to give of yourself to others, contact us today.

Contact Concern provides training for our telephone volunteers so they have the tools necessary to effectively handle and diffuse crisis situations. There are classes to teach communication techniques and special listening skills so our trainees are equipped with the skills necessary to become telephone Helpline volunteers. Contact Concern’s comprehensive volunteer training also includes information on area agencies, services, programs and support groups.

Once you’ve completed the training, volunteers are asked to complete just two four-hour shifts per month. The Helpline is operated from 9:00am -9:00 pm, Monday through Friday, so it’s easy to find a shift that will fit your schedule.

We need volunteers to take shifts on the helpline, do data entry and also need someone to help coordinate the volunteer schedule.

Description

Make a Difference in Your Community!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
