Internship or Volunteer Job Description

Job Title: Wish Department Intern

Reports To: Program Services Team


TIME COMMITMENT
* Summer Commitment, available for up to 12-20 hours per week during office hours (M-R; 8:30am-4:00pm; F 8:30am-3pm)

* Make-A-Wish(r) will provide our interns reimbursement for parking

* This internship is unpaid; however, if your University allows you to receive credit for this position we can support that program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Wish Program:

Help with details of wish-granting, which include but are not limited to:
* Process incoming wish paperwork which includes making copies, organizing files, and follow-up phone calls on incomplete referrals
* Contacting wish families, volunteers, and medical professionals as needed
* Assist with travel reservations
* Research unique wish requests
* Work on wish itineraries and creating wish packets
* Being trained as wish-granting volunteers (if so desired)
* Coordinating special involvement with outside companies if wish involves shopping sprees, gifts and/or other unique experiences pertaining to wish
* Update Wish Progress and Wish Family Paperwork in Raiser’s Edge, client database platform
* All other duties as assigned

Administration:

Help with details of Administration, which include but are not limited to:
* Communication with other chapters for wish travel
* Process outgoing mail for wish packets, travel packages, etc.
* Operate office machines, filing, database entry and other duties as assigned.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Excellent writing, editing, communication, creativeness, and organizational skills.
* Attention to detail and ability to complete multi-step administrative processes is imperative.
* Enthusiastic, reliable and proactive team player who enjoys working in a collaborative and fun work environment.
* Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); desktop publishing, and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or Design Software is a plus.
