ABOUT THE PARK:

The Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park includes 34 islands and peninsulas situated within the large "C" shape of the Greater Boston shoreline. The islands are rich in natural and cultural resources, and are managed by a unique, 13-member Partnership. The Boston Harbor Islands Partnership represents a range of federal, state, city, and nonprofit agencies. Visit bostonharborislands.org for more information.

ABOUT THE HINGHAM KIOSK:

The Hingham Kiosk serves as a gateway to the Boston Harbor Islands for many visitors. The Hingham Shipyard is a heavily trafficked departure point - serving as a ferry terminal for the commuter boat to Boston, but also ferries to some of the Boston Harbor Islands. It is an important place to engage and guide visitors as they begin their journey to the Boston Harbor Islands. The kiosk is operated by Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation.

DUTIES/WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work will consist of assisting in the daily operation of the Hingham Kiosk, serving as the friendly face of the park, and assisting visitors. Volunteers must be able to commit to a regular schedule. Attendance at one park-held training session is required, additional training will be provided at worksite.

The work is performed primarily at the information booth. In this setting, volunteers should expect regular and recurring exposure to moderatediscomforts, e.g., high or low temperatures, or adverse weatherconditions. The work may involve standing for shifts of up to 4 hours.

TIME COMMITTMENT:

Schedule is negotiable, but a minimum commitment of 8 shifts per season (Late June-Early September) is required. Attendance at one park-held training session required, date and time to be announced. We welcome help for all shifts, but particularly need in on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Shifts are described below:
