Help transplant hostas from a private donor to The Kane Street Community Garden! Volunteers will assist with uprooting hostas, loading them into vans, traveling back to The Kane Street Community Garden, and re-planting hostas in the garden. This opportunity requires physical activity, lifting up to 40 pounds, and working on unleveled ground. Transportation to and from donor location will be provided.

Can't volunteer May 24th? What about Tuesdays , May 31st, or June 7th?

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse, Inc. is to eliminate hunger by harvesting community resources and being the voice of the hungry.

Description

The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse has two programs The Food Recovery Program and The Kane Street Community Garden.

The Food Recovery Programs collects nutritious food that would other end up in landfills and distributes it to 70 hunger programs in La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau, and Vernon Counties. These hunger programs include food pantries, meal sites, and youth programs.

The Kane Street Community Garden was created to help ensure free nutritious produce was available to everyone. The Garden grows 30,000 pounds of produce each year on 2 city blocks. Produce is distributed free of charge to the public.
