Mission Statement
To provide shelter and loving care for older felines made homeless due to the terminal illness, incapacitation or death of their owners, and to educate the public about the importance of planning for the ongoing care of their beloved companion animals should a time come when they are no longer able to do so themselves.
Description
Hearts That Purr Feline Guardians is a specialized rescue organization founded in 2013. Our efforts are focused on helping older cats made homeless due to the terminal illness, incapacitation or death of their owners.
We do not operate a cat shelter in the usual sense. Here, we understand the special needs of cats that were never unwanted, but have been essentially orphaned. Our programs and priorities are designed to carefully transition cats that are used to a secure and loving home and give them the next best thing when their owner passes away or must enter a hospice or nursing home.
We use private, low-density residential group and foster homes to shelter these cats in need until new homes are found. In the case of very elderly felines or those with chronic health conditions, we provide loving care in a peaceful, home-like setting for the rest of their lives.
Hearts That Purr is an all-volunteer organization supported entirely by people who understand and appreciate the important rescue work we do. We are recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and your donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
