Volunteers for hospice are compassionate and commited people who donate time to provide emotional support, friendly visits, and non-medical help for clients and caregivers of the hospice program. Clerical support and creative individuals are also needed. We tailor your volunteering to our needs and your interests, realizing that enjoying what you do is crucial to your volunteer experience.
Even if you only have a few hours to give a month, we can use you! Opportunities exist in communities all around the lowcountry and training is provided.

Mission Statement
Hospice isn’t a place. It’s a philosophy of care. Our mission is called enriching life. Heartland Hospice is dedicated to providing patients with care wherever they consider home. Whether care is desired in the home a patient has lived in for years, a skilled nursing center or an assisted living facility, we tailor our caregiving to fit the patient’s and family’s unique needs.
Description
Heartland’s caregivers enrich our patients’ lives and provide support by developing individualized care plans, setting goals, encouraging personal choices, working together in caregiving decisions, and supporting meaningful experiences. Our caregivers help manage pain and symptoms, enabling patients to live life as fully and comfortably as possible. Volunteers are the heart of the hospice team! Volunteers offer support and companionship to patients and their families. Social workers and Spiritual Counselors create a comforting environment in which patients and families are able to share their thoughts, hopes, and concerns. We also have special bereavement programs that provide emotional support to patients and families who need help coping.
