Become a Board Member with For Goodness Cakes and help us spread Love, Joy and Frosting to disadvantaged and at-risk youth.

For Goodness Cakes works with foster agencies and care homes to match volunteers to make and hand-deliver birthday cakes to foster children and at-risk youth on their special day within LA County.

Birthdays are often overlooked due to more pressing needs. Our mission at For Goodness Cakes is to give individual youth at least one special moment that is about them. By providing a child a treat made especially for them, it gives them some much needed time to not feel the increasing pressure of their socioeconomic situation, but rather grow in optimism and confidence.

We are looking for an experienced Board Member to join our Board for a few hours a month and for one Board meeting a quarter, to help our organization grow. While day-to-day operations are led by our CEO, appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected to enable our organization to grow and flourish. Specific duties of Board Members will include:

• Serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO as she develops and implements For Goodness Cakes’ strategic plan

• Reviewing outcomes and regularly measuring the organization’s performance and effectiveness

• Approving For Goodness Cakes’ annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities

• Assisting the CEO and Board Chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members

• Partnering with the CEO and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out

• Serving on committees and taking on special assignments

• Representing For Goodness Cakes to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization

• Ensuring For Goodness Cakes’ commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities we serve

• Treat For Goodness Cakes as a philanthropic priority and aid with fundraising efforts
