VITAS Paw Pal volunteers are volunteers with clean, vaccinated, loving and well behaved pets that can be shared with our hospice patients in the community. Hospice services are provided in the home or in facilitites where the patient resides.
VITAS Paw Pal pets do not need any formal pet training to participate. An interview with someone in volunteer services with evaluate the pet for appropriateness. The handler would attend a hospice volunteer orientation program to participate.
Paw Pals provide emotional support and compassion to our patients and families.
