"My experience with World Vets was life changing. It is difficult to sum up, but it was eye opening, educational, and more than I could have ever expected it to be". ~Haley Furchner, Volunteer

Cabarete, Dominican Republic (Nov 5-12, 2016) - Assistant position available World Vets has been sending veterinary teams to the Puerto Plata area for many years. The objective of our visits has been to support local efforts in providing free veterinary services, and in making routine veterinary care more accessible for local animals. This year World Vets will send a team to Cabarete where they will provide a large scale spay/neuter and animal health campaign.

Assistant positions currently available on this project location. The assistant category is open to anyone who loves animals and wants to help! Assistants often help in:

  • The post operation recovery area
  • Sterilizing surgical equipment
  • A variety of miscellaneous duties (based on your skills, experience and comfort level)
  • Our assistant positions require no prior experience, just a willingness to learn!

Participants are responsible for project fee & flights. See link below for details, availability, and to register. Questions? Contact World Vets Volunteer Coordinator, Katie Cole at katiej@worldvets.org.

Mission Statement

World Vets Mission is to improve the health and well being of animals by providing veterinary aid and training in developing countries and by providing disaster relief worldwide.

Description

help animals, educate people and have a positive impact on communities. Improving animal welfare and alleviating suffering are high on our priority list but our work extends beyond that. Our programs help to prevent the spread of diseases from animals to humans; our livestock programs help small farmers to pull themselves out of poverty, and our disaster relief efforts for animals directly impact people who might otherwise remain in dangerous situations if the needs of their animals are not addressed.

World Vets recognizes the importance of the One Health concept in which health of humans, animals and their ecosystems are inextricably linked. Our programs help not only animals, but also people and the communities in which they live.

World Vets is able to improve the lives of thousands of animals each year by providing free veterinary care through our dedicated volunteer force of over 4,000 individuals combined with financial support and in-kind donations.

Our volunteers have a wide range of skill, expertise and experience. Our volunteer force is comprised of veterinarians, licensed and non licensed technicians, pre veterinary, veterinary and technician students, as well as those who are simply animal lovers. All our volunteers are passionate about helping animals and the desire to make a difference.
