Mission Statement
The Reading Connection improves the lives of at-risk kids and families in metro Washington, DC, by using the magic of books to inspire a passion to learn.
Description
The Reading Connection's programs start with the enjoyment kids and adults can have reading books aloud. That books can be fun may be a surprise to a kid who has never been read to outside of school and has no books of his own. The Reading Connection provides fun, reading experiences for at-risk kids and provides free books for kids to keep.
Volunteers also help with book mailing preparation, fundraising, special events, organizing book drives and website maintenance.
