Seattle Goodwill will be collceting donations after the Mill Creek communtiy garage sale. Garage Sale participants will be encouraged to donated items not sold during the sale to Goodwill. As a team, staff and volunteers will greet donors and collect material donations.

Volunteers may sign up individually or as part of a group.

Project Description: Work side-by-side with other volunteers who have a strong desire to make a difference in the community. The Donations Special Event Volunteer supports Goodwill donation staff at special events such as neighborhood events, fundraisers, and seasonal events at Goodwill donation sites.

Project Scope:

  • Greet material donors upon arrival and provide excellent customer service throughout the donation process.
  • Support donation staff at point of contact providing excellent customer service and collecting material donations from vehicles.
  • Thank donors and distribute tax receipts after donations are unloaded.
  • Assist staff by organizing donations for optimal storage.
  • Help to clean, pack, straighten, and secure the donation area at the end of the volunteer shift.

Reports To: Donations Manager/Donations Supervisor

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Comfortable engaging with the public
  • Ability to organize donations efficiently
  • Works well with diverse populations
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines

Essential Physical Abilities:

Lifting and carrying 20-50 pounds; Developed fine motor control (grasp, handle, manipulate objects with fingers;
Standing for long periods of time; frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing. Able to travel across a variety of surfaces (stairs, ramps, uneven terrain).

Working Environment/Conditions:

Outdoors and indoors environments, temperature varies with weather, exposure to dust.
