Volunteering at community garden

AmeriCorps summer members help mobilize diverse groups of youth volunteers ages 11 to 18 into teams, which complete meaningful service projects in the Greater Kansas City Community.

Each week you lead at a new location and with new youth. Some locations include animal shelters, nursing homes, soup kitchens, assisted living facilities, nature sanctuaries and community gardens.

This position is similar to a camp counselor and you commit to May-July Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. You receive an education award and stipend every other week of $501. AmeriCorps members must be at least 18 and have a high-school diploma. College credit is available.

AmeriCorps is similar to the Peace Corps but in the United States and is a contracted volunteer commitment with the federal government.
