The Home Helps program provides repair services for low-income older adult and disabled homeowners who are living in an unsafe or unhealthy home in York and Lancaster Counties. The Home Helps program works with homeowners who have an income of $15,000 a year or less. Most don’t have enough money at the end of the month to consider paying someone to repair a thirteen (13) year old roof leak that produces mold or wrinkled old carpet that causes them to fall. Our homeowners are stuck in a situation where they do not have the money to move into a different housing alternative. Their homes would be difficult to sell and would be sold at a low price due to the need of repairs and disarray, thereby not allowing a sustainable future budget.

The Home Helps program builds wheelchair ramps, both inside and outside for mobility and freedom; caulks windows and doors, and installs insulation to create efficient, warm homes; seals leaks and replaces individual windows so homes are dry from water infiltration; replaces rotting staircases, drywall, ceilings, doors and flooring for a healthy and safe home; installs ADA compliant bathrooms, completes small plumbing repairs, paints the interior and exterior of the home, and performs property maintenance.
