Make a difference in the life of a youth-sign up to do activities with a child once a week-work on different skills with them, have fun, and get to know them. It's so simple, but it makes a huge difference for these kids to have a friend who's there for them! (Activities are usually pretty basic-you can make cookies with them, go to the library, play a board game, learn photography-it's really the choice of you and the child) You'll get to know their family as well, and develop a lasting relationship. Youth are typically between 10-15.
Once a month, instead of doing an activity with just you and your "mentee" for the week, come do an activity with the other mentors and mentees in Utah County-make new friends and have fun! (We cover the cost) Past activities we've done include riding the Sundance Lift, ice skating, water parties, service projects, laser tag and Color-Me-Mine-we do a huge variety of activities.
If you feel you:
1.Are able to spare just an hour of your time each week for a year (if you like leaving for summers, we have a mentor-on-the-move program where you can write letters/emails or call)
2.Have a reliable form of transportation
3.Can pass a background check
4.Are 18 or older
then we would absolutely LOVE to have you as a part of 4-H Mentoring! We are flexible with schedules-we can find a child who is available the same times as you. We are also very willing to write letters of recommendation for future schools and employees if you are a dependable volunteer :) If you speak Spanish-let us know! We can match you with a family that speaks Spanish if you prefer.
