Heart to Heart Hospice of Terre Haute is looking for volunteers to assist our patient’s, families and our team in bringing quality hospice care to our community. Hospice volunteers show their compassion and care in many ways by visiting the patient and family at home, in the nursing home, or wherever the patient resides. You may choose to be a Direct Patient Care Volunteer and/or an Administrative Volunteer. Regardless of your choice you are a valuable member of our Heart to Heart team!

Direct Patient Care Activities include but not limited to:

  • Reading books or news
  • Running errands
  • Caregiver relief
  • Making phone calls
  • Writing letters
  • Preparing meals
  • Companionship activities-life review, hobbies, expressing interests
  • Playing cards or games
  • Bereavement activities

Administrative Volunteer Activities include but not limited to:

  • Answering phones
  • Filing and light office work
  • Making deliveries of supplies
  • Making bereavement calls or patient tuck in calls
  • Assisting with community relations
  • Assist with office cleaning or maintenance

Whether you have firsthand experience with a life-limiting illness either with a family member or close friend or not, you can make a positive difference in the lives of others. As a member of our team and as part of volunteering for our agency you will receive training related to hospice and the types of activities you may be providing, on-going education and training and other benefits such as, annual flu vaccine and hepatitis series vaccine if you so desire.
