Volunteer Drivers are the lifeblood of our organization. They provide dignified, reliable, courteous transportation for seniors or anyone with a visual impairment anywhere they want to go.
Volunteering to drive for ITNMemphis is a simple way to give as much - or as little - of your time as you like, one morning or afternoon per week, every Thursday, every morning for an hour before work, or only on weekends, etc. - the schedule is as flexible as you make it. ITNMemphis will provide training and arrange driving assignments around your schedule. Our cloud based software allows easy access for all drivers and riders.
One Volunteer Driver has said that "transporting a rider in your own personal car is like bringing them into your living room." Volunteer Drivers also earn credits based on mileage driven that can be stored in a personal account for later use, donated to a relative, or donated to the ITN Road Scholarship Program for area seniors with limited income.
Volunteering to drive for ITNMemphis provides an invaluable lifeline for area seniors to stay connected with their communities and a priceless opportunity for both those seniors and their drivers to interact with real, interesting people throughout the Memphis area. The immediate benefits of volunteering are countless, but lifelong memories are truly timeless.OUR COVID RESPONSE:
Please remember ITN’s mission is to provide transportation to some of the most vulnerable members of our society. All riders are considered high risk and encouraged to stay up to date on vaccinations and boosters. Our riders may schedule free rides for these vaccinations. Drivers are also encouraged to stay up to date on vaccinations.
Because of the high risk nature of riders and many drivers, Riders sit masked in the back seat behind the passenger seat. Drivers must also wear a mask at all times while transporting a rider. Masks and hand sanitizer is provided for each driver.

The mission is to provide a community-based, community supported, economically viable, and consumer-oriented, quality transportation service for seniors and visually impaired adults. We support sustainable, community-based transportation initiative efforts by participating in the national transportation network grounded in research, policy analysis and education.

ITNMemphis, a nonprofit organization that provide rides to seniors and the visually impaired, with a unique emphasis on excellent customer service, seeks to find friendly, patient volunteers who love to be around seniors. Volunteers may serve as little as 3 hours per month or more depending on the driver's schedule. Volunteers use their own cars. They can chose from a variety of reimbursement options. What sets us apart from other ride share programs is our drivers provide our members with arm-through-arm, door-to-door service from their front door to the car and from the car to their destination. If you are interested in making a difference in peoples’ lives, experience instant gratification, are friendly and patient, see parts of Memphis new to you, this is the volunteer match for you.
