We are looking for 10-12 eager, positive volunteers to assist with iced tea and lemonade service at this year's First UMC Pops Handbell Concert! Pops is a handbell concert filled with family fun. But it is really much more than that! At Pops, the First Church Family Life Center transforms into a dinner theatre atmosphere. Tables are decorated in festive style. Audience members are asked to "bring your own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to gourmet" as those in attendance eat and enjoy one another’s company. In addition, Pops is always benefit honoring or helping a family or individual from our First Church family. This year, all profits collected at Pops will go directly to benefit the "Head for the Cure Foundation" in loving memory of Don Kothmann, who passed away on March 22, 2013.

Location:

Mission Statement

The Head for the Cure Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding in the fight against brain cancer. In 2004, funds raised by Head for the Cure enabled the seed money to launch the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC) at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.

Description

The 5K events are not only successful fundraisers, but unique tributes to those who are fighting brain cancer and those who have lost their battles. Their memories carry on through the teams that formed around them, and the teams return year after year to celebrate their legacies.
