Live4Evan is a non-profit organization that supports patients and families affected by cardiac disease. We are looking for a variety of volunteers to help with our 4th annual 5k Run/Walk and Post-race Event in Hopkinton, MA on September 10th. Event proceeds will support a number of Live4Evan programs, including our apartment housing program and our heart center care pack drops with Boston Children's Hospital. We are looking for people to help leading up to the race and also for people to help day-of. Some volunteer positions include silent auction coordinator, raffle coordinator, help with a games section, help securing food and retail vendors, volunteers to help with logistics day of, etc. If you are interested in getting involved in any capacity, please let us know. Description
Evan Nicholas Girardi, was born with a congenital heart defect called Correct L-Transposition of the Great Arteries. In 2010, he passed away unexpectedly from a heart arrythmia at the age of 20. Live4Evan (L4E) was formed by a close-knit group of Evan’s friends determined to honor his life by giving back to others and spreading heart happiness "Evan’s Way". We began participating in active events, such as the Tough Mudder, the Boston Marathon, and local 5k’s as a way to come together as a team and "Live 4 Evan". The feeling of community that these events provided, led us to form Live4Evan and host active lifestyle events that fundraise for our own patient family housing project in Boston and spread those feelings to a larger audience. In addition to our apartment housing initiative, L4E operates a volunteer meal program at the Yawkey Family Inn, delivers care packs to Boston Children’s Heart Center patients, and maintains a scholarship for graduates of Hopkinton High School. L4E also provides support for the team of doctors and nurses at Boston Cardiac Foundation, who deliver free cardiac care to patients in developing countries. Join us in promoting healthy and happy hearts!
