We have an easy, flexible way for you to make a true impact on the lives of people in your community. Often, cancer patients don’t have transportation to get to treatment or don’t feel well enough to drive. You can help by providing rides to patients in your community. You can choose to drive when it works for you. We are in need of drivers.
How does the Road To Recovery program work?
The American Cancer Society uses a simple screening process to help ensure that the right volunteers are recruited for the program.
Volunteer drivers must have:
* A current, valid driver’s license * A good driving record
* Access to a safe and reliable vehicle * Proof of adequate automobile insurance
They also must complete a training to help prepare them for their new role. The Society maintains specifi c standards for driver responsibility. These standards help both the patient and the driver be comfortable with the program.
