Help children and youth achieve their full potential! As our VISTA you will help build our volunteer management system and help raise funds.

United Way of Passaic County has been in the community for over 75 years. Our mission is to improve the lives of people in Passaic County by mobilizing the caring power of the community. Education is a cornerstone of individual and community success. As part of the Campaign for Grade Level Reading initiative in Paterson, United Way of Passaic County’s Paterson Readers Program recruits and trains volunteers to provide tutoring and mentoring to first grade students twice a week after school. Our Financial Aid U (FAU) program helps create a college-going culture that breaks down barriers and allows students to reach their full potential. By creating realistic expectations about the cost of college, the need for college savings, and the potential of a degree, Financial Aid U equals successful students. FAU volunteers provide one-on-one service to parents and students serving as a guide through the financial aid process.

This is a great opportunity for those interested in project and/or program management, grant writing or public service.

Member Duties:

Enhance volunteer management and recruitment policies to support the ongoing delivery of Financial and U services and Paterson Readers, recruit, manage and train volunteers to deliver program services to students, maintain and build additional relationships needed to expand and enhance services provided, assist in developing and expanding financial resources for educational initiatives for long term sustainability and participate in United Way Worldwide Education Project-wide initiatives to maintain project capacity and integrity.
