Overview

The support group internship opportunity is for a motivated, self-directed college graduate or graduate student who is passionate about domestic violence issues and interested in planning and facilitating support groups. The internship could include participating in and assisting with a comprehensive volunteer facilitator training, developing support group curricula for LGBT survivors of domestic violence, facilitating a domestic violence support group, or another support group related project. This intern would be supervised by Compass Center's Support Group Coordinator. Hours are flexible, but some evening hours would be expected for training or group time. Please apply online. An in person interview is required.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to commit 10-20 hrs/week, with some evening hours required.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Data base, word-processing and internet skills.
  • Initiative, responsibility and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to commit to the position ideally from Mid-May until Mid-August
