The EnCorps Teaching Fellowship for STEM Professionals - Final Deadline 5/15

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: EnCorps STEM Teachers Program

YOU HAVE STEM EXPERTISE AND WANT TO GIVE BACK

Are you are one of many STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) professionals who has a desire to share your passion with younger generations and make a difference for public school students?

STUDENTS NEED YOU

STEM achievement and career opportunities are disproportionately limited for youth in under-resourced school districts. The severe shortage of high-quality teachers to improve resources and outcomes leaves low-income and minority students particularly vulnerable. This isn’t right.

JOIN US!

The EnCorps STEM Teachers Program empowers STEM industry experts to become exceptional teachers, tutors, and educators. Heading into our 10th year of public service, we are the only nonprofit in California (or the nation) that enables STEM professionals, military veterans, and retirees to explore a career transition to teaching or volunteer tutoring in a low risk, highly supported way.

EnCorps Fellows directly impact the next generation of innovators, scientists and engineers, and are uniquely positioned to transform public STEM education. EnCorps provides comprehensive training and support as you personally engage with students in need and explore a move into a career that truly changes our world.

Mission Statement

WE ARE STEM PROFESSIONALS PROVIDING HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION TO CLOSE ACHIEVEMENT GAPS FOR STUDENTS IN LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES

Description

Founded in 2007, EnCorps Inc. is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit with operations in California as well the greater Denver, Colorado and New York City areas. EnCorps connects highly effective STEM educators with public school students to counter the systemic injustice preventing children in under-resourced communities from accessing a high-quality STEM education. The EnCorps STEM Teachers Program(r) recruits, selects and supports STEM professionals and experts in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields as well as individuals who possess an advanced STEM degree to transition to teaching as an innovative, long-term solution to the STEM teacher shortage and to counter the alarming lack of math proficiency of middle and high school students nationwide. The EnCorps STEMx Tutors Program matches middle school students, currently under-performing in math, with volunteer STEM professionals, subject-matter experts and STEM college students to increase math skills and confidence prior to students entering high school.
