Mission Statement

"Helping people with disabilities live full and abundant lives."

Description

Trinity Services of Joliet was founded in 1950. Under the vision and direction of Art Dykstra since 1987, Trinity has evolved into a mulit-faceted organization providing a wide range of services for people with disabilities. With a staff of over 1,030, and a budget of almost $40 million, Trinity supports people in 23 Illinois communities and is also in Reno, Nevada. In 2006, Trinity received the Alford-Axelson Award for Nonprofit Managerial Excellence, which is given annually to organizations that exemplify extraordinary managerial excellence.

In November 2006 a small group from the Metro East asked Trinity to serve adults with developmental disabilities, including autism, in Southwest Illinois. In January, 2007 Trinity's Board of Directors authorized an innovative adult learning program in Mascoutah, with community residential services to come later. The group has become Trinity's area partner: Abundant Living For All Foundation (Alfa), a serparate, all-volunteer community organization. Alfa has incorporated under Illinois law and is a fully accredited 501 (c)(3) organization. Alfa's purpose is to assist Trinity as it helps adults with developmental disabilities in the Metro East lead full and abundant lives.
