18th Annual Charity Wingfest

The Woodfield Area Children's Organization (W.A.C.O.) hosts our 18th Annual Wingfest charity fundraiser on the last Sunday in July at DRINK in Schaumburg. Sixteen restaurants will be serving our guests all the wings they can eat. There will be contests, games, a live band and more. While the event itself is held on the deck, weather permitting, the guests come through DRINK for registration and some of the raffles. Although all the funds raised go to help disadvantaged children, Wingfest is an adult-only event. We need volunteers to help with set up, registration, raffle ticket selling, contests, etc. We expect 400-500 guests. We like to have plenty of volunteers so that no one person is overtaxed. You will be assigned specific duties and will most probably know what they are prior to your arrival. Once your duties are complete we ask that you check in to see if there's anything else that's needed. If not, we invite you to enjoy Wingfest. It's a fun day and we do our best to make sure our volunteers have a good time too. We'll do set up from 10:30-11:30 when the doors open. Wingfest runs until 5:30 PM. We never run late.

W.A.C.O. is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving disadvantaged children in Chicago’s northwest and western suburbs since 1979. A full .97 of every dollar we raise goes to help the kids. Throughout the year we hold coat, book, school supplies, food and toy drives. Every year we purchase 400+ new children’s winter coats and host a summer reading program along with other educational initiatives. On the first two Saturdays in December we take more than 500 preschoolers shopping for themselves and their families, wrap the gifts and send them home so they will have something to open Christmas morning.
