Come be a part of the restaurant style service that happens every weekday at Kansas City Community Kitchen!
KCCK has been feeding people in need in downtown KCMO for more than 30 years, but in spring 2016 we made headlines when we changed from a cafeteria style service to be more like a restaurant. Volunteers serve as the "front of house" staff - hosts, wait staff, bussers, etc. so that guests truly experience "dining with dignity." You may have seen us on Upworthy, Huffington Post or NBC Nightly News - and this is a great chance for you to come see it for yourself and be a part of it!
Volunteers are required to complete a release/waiver form, wear closed toe shoes, and be at least 10 years old (those under 14 must be accompanied by an adult). More details are available on our website at http://bit.ly/Nourishvol or just reply to this listing and we'll get you started!
No experience necessary. Shifts available every Monday - Friday (even holidays) with choice of full shift from 10:30-2:30 or a short shift until 12 pm (you can stay later if you like). Other opportunities to help with food prep also available on weekday mornings, a couple of weeknights and Saturdays. Come join us!

Description
NourishKC, formerly known as Episcopal Community Services, specializes in a unique blend of food related programs.
The Kansas City Community Kitchen provides more than 1500 restaurant-style meals each week to anyone who comes to eat. Our Food Security Network supplies thousands more meals per year through a network of food pantries, BackSnack programs and other meal programs around the metro. Perhaps what makes us most unique is our Culinary Cornerstones training program which provides individuals an opportunity to learn life skills as well as culinary skills, giving them a chance to get a living wage job that will provide them with food access for the long term.
