ORGANIZATION: Eastside Legal Assistance Program

Come help make equal access to justice in our community a reality by assisting Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP) refine our current logo, flyers, and brochures.

You will work independently on various projects. The goal is to create an image that better reflects what ELAP is about in a way that is aesthetically pleasing. We want the core values and mission to come through visually and in word. We hope to increase the visibility and awareness of ELAP services to a wider range of people, and to encourage a greater understanding of ELAP’s mission. Since 1989, ELAP has provided East King County residents with a variety of civil services enabling equal access to justice including, one-on-one legal clinics, unbundled legal services, brief services and community education seminars.

Your role as a graphic designer will be to increase and improve ELAP’s presence in the community as a resource for quality trainings and services.

Duties:

  • Work independently and collaboratively to identify visual opportunities that best communicate the story of ELAP;
  • Be able to complete all phases of project from design conceptualization to post production and coordination of distribution;
  • Project coordination and equipment operation and maintenance;
  • Ensures consistency and relevancy to production;
  • Monitors technical quality of end product;
  • Create images that help convey ELAP’s message;
  • Develop graphics and visual or audio images for upcoming events;
  • Create designs using computer software packages;
  • Select colors, images, text style, and layout for workshop flyers and brochures;
  • Incorporate changes recommended by staff into the final designs;
  • Review designs for errors before printing or publishing.

Hours:

This volunteer position requires an average of five to eight hours per week, however will be project based. We ask for a minimum one year commitment.

Qualifications:

  • Analytical skills: Must be able to look at work from a general point of view and examine how the designs will be perceived by the public in order to ensure it conveys the desired message.
  • Artistic ability: Must be able to create designs that are artistically interesting and appealing to clients.
  • Communication skills: Must communicate with both staff and volunteers on a regular basis.
  • Computer skills: Must have adequate knowledge about computer software.
  • Creativity: Must think of new approaches to communicating ideas to clients and develop unique designs on behalf of our organization.
  • Time-management skills: Must be able to work on multiple projects at the same time, each with different deadlines.
