Adrian Bloom Overlook Garden in 2007
Adrian Bloom Overlook Garden in 2007

Originally designed for Yew Dell by world-renown British garden designer Adrian Bloom, the roughly 3,000 square foot Overlook Gardens were planted in 2006 by a team of hundreds of volunteers all in one day! Over the 10 years since that planting, our "Bloom Beds" have grown and changed (as gardens do!) and this ten-year anniversary is the year for us, along with the hard work and dedication of the Jefferson County Master Gardeners Program, to bring these important garden beds back to the original design concept of Adrian Bloom.

This garden rehabilitation is an ongoing Yew Dell project for the 2016 season that folks are invited to join whenever they have a need to play in the dirt. Yew Dell has dedicated May 13th to the essential task of Spring Mulching the entire garden, and we hope to recreate the community festival atmosphere of the original planting by starting and finishing this important step on that one day with as many volunteers as we can gather.
