The Family Empowerment Program is Catholic Charities' initiative to end family homelessness in Nashville. Through case management and other services, we walk side-by-side families in their journey from homelessness or instability to housing and financial stability. We rely on enthusiastic volunteers to provide the community support necessary in families' times of transition. This support comes in the form of opportunities such as the House-Warming Basket Team. These volunteers prepare a bundle of materials necessary for making a new apartment or house into a home. This might include simple cleaning supplies (lysol, paper towels, etc.), kitchen utensils (silverware, cookware, etc.), and home-decorative items (hanging pictures, rugs, etc.). We find that relationships and face-to-face support make the biggest difference in the lives of families. If they are willing, the volunteer is encouraged to join us in delivering the items to the families' doorstep. Consider joining our team!
