Join us at Excelsior Brewing Company and learn how you can transform your lawn or garden making it water-friendly! Whether you're interested in a smaller native planting or want to transform your whole yard into a force for clean water, this FMR workshop can help your planning.
Home lawn and garden practices significantly impact the health of Lake Minnetonka, Minnehaha Creek, and ultimately the Mississippi River. In this brief but informative FMR workshop, learn how you can become part of the solution. This workshop takes a how-to approach, suggesting local resources and quickly covering the most relevant information. Advanced registration is required - see below for more details!
Plus, $1 from each pint sold will be donated to FMR! This event is part of the Brewing Clean Water program, bringing FMR and local breweries together.
We will discuss things like:
- landscaping with native plant species
- proper use of lawn fertilizer
- rain barrels
- backyard composting

Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) engages people to protect, restore and enhance the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities region.
Description
Friends of the Mississippi River is proud to work with roughly 3,000 volunteers annually.
We keep volunteering simple, fun and satisfying -- there are no applications, and you can sign up for one event or several. We list events especially in need of volunteers here on VolunteerMatch.com, but maintain a full calendar of 60+ events a year at www.fmr.org/events.
Our project work includes conservation and restoration of natural areas and habitat, education on watershed protection issues, and organizing activities that connect the public to the Mississippi River.
