Make an Impact in the Life of a Child, as you Gain Skills and Nonprofit Management Experience

Be the catalyst needed for nonprofits working with children and families to more effectively recruit, engage and retain quality volunteers. United Way’s Volunteer Manager Corps (VMC) program, developed in partnership with 501 Commons, is recruiting for volunteers and interns this summer with the Friendship Circle, a Mercer Island organization that pairs special needs children that seeks to bridge the gap between special needs and typical youth through shared experience.

VMC Members volunteer about 10 hours a week between mid-June 2015 and the end of September, 2016 and receive:

  • volunteer management training and ongoing support
  • experience working with a nonprofit organization
  • recognition for helping to increase an organization’s capacity to deliver services
  • the ability to earn internship credit
  • a $400 United Way of King County service award, depending on hours completed.

Description

United Way’s VIP Managers Corps, a program facilitated in partnership with 501 Commons, helps King County human service organizations develop and sustain effective volunteer engagement programs and practices. This program places volunteers with organizations that can benefit from additional staff support to help build organizational commitment, capacity, and competency around volunteer engagement activities.
