Monarch Larva Monitoring Walk

Dinosaur Valley State Park needs your help in sharing the wonders of our park. We have a diversity of resources that the public is interested in learning about. We need volunteers that are free to come in anytime Sunday to Saturday 8:30am - 5:00pm.

As an Interp/Education volunteer, you will have the opportunity to connect the visitors to our natural, cultural, and palentological resources.

Those that enjoy public speaking and sharing information with others would be great at this. This is a very important role as volunteers are at times the only staff a visitor will encounter. Volunteers can lead scheduled programs or hikes through the park by foot or bike. Volunteers can be roving interpreters by bike and stop and talk to people. A talk or hike can be on anything from dinosaurs and geology to birds and native plants. There are also opportunities to go to libraries or local schools and speak with children.

Contact us now to see how you can help and get registered as a volunteer in our system!

About LDL Friends of Dinosaur Valley State Park

Location:

Mission Statement

A charitable organization in support of education, health, and environmental projects for the youth and adults of Somervell County and adjacent counties.

Description

The LDL Educational Resource Foundation was founded in 1993 by three Glen Rose Elementary School teachers (Liz Sherrell, Dorothy Gibbs, and Leta Yocham) who sought to fulfill a need in their community by assisting in providing health care and education to the families in Somervell County. A year later, Friends of Dinosaur Valley State Park Gift Shop was opened to fulfill the environmental commitment to the LDL foundation. The LDL foundation has donated over $1,000,000 worth of support to Dinosaur Valley State Park during the past 22 years. The proceeds of every purchase at the gift shop benefits Dinosaur Valley State Park in their efforts to provide ongoing environmental education.

Dinosaur Valley State Park has a very active volunteer community. Volunteers perform a wide range of duties from cleaning the bathrooms, leading bird walks, cleaning dinosaur tracks, working the front desk, to volunteering at events. If you are interested in joining the Dino Team, check out the many opportunities listed.
