PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The American Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) has launched the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign (HFPC). Its goal is to reduce the rate of deaths and injuries due to home fires by 25 percent over 5 years. Its strategy includes participating in a community coalition that targets neighborhoods at-risk for home fires; installs and tests smoke alarms; and provides fire safety and disaster preparedness education/planning. This position exists primarily to coordinate various aspects of Home Fire Preparedness Campaign from planning to implementation, including activities in advance and on the day of the event.

OPEN TIME DAYS

40 - 60 hours over the course of 2 -3 months, once a quarter on average.

Home Fire Preparedness Campaign Events are located throughout the state of WI within assigned neighborhoods.⦆

REQUIRED TRAINING

• American Red Cross Volunteer Orientation

• Disaster Services: An Overview

• Home Fire Preparedness Campaign Guidance and Training: Safety for Home Visits, Fire Safety and Disaster Education, and other required training.
