This picture was taken at the event last year, but this year we will celebrate our first college graduates, and want to make it bigger and more successful than ever!

Kid City Hope Place is a neighborhood-based after school program for high school and college students in the heart of Downtown LA. It offers tutoring, college and job preparation, academic enrichment all within a healthy and supportive community of peers. Since its inception four years ago, Kid City has been building a music program with an emphasis on private instruction and musical performance. We offer private lessons and band practice for students in all levels and are currently seeking instruction for our Summer Program, from late June to early August. A signature feature of Kid City’s music program is that students from all levels get to play together as a group learning songs that they get to choose themselves. We than take those songs and through them teach how to read music, improvise and perform. This results in a more relevant repertoire/curriculum that the students can get excited about. For more information please visit www.kidcityhopeplace.org

Kid City is seeking several music students to volunteer at least one of the following afternoons on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Ideally, volunteers would be college students working towards a music degree with some experience in teaching either privately or in group settings. We are especially in need of vocal instructors and drum instructors.
