We have opportunities for volunteers at our animal shelter. We are a no kill shelter in North Salt Lake, We need people to help with cleaning kennels, walking dogs, cleaning the cat room, brushing and playing with our cats. We have a great walking trail with the Jordan River trailway behind our shelter! If you would rather work outside, we have dog areas that can be spruced up and small yard work/clean up projects.
We also need volunteers to help us with our events. We go to various events on the weekends and would love the help. You can help set up and tear down crates when we get there and leave. Walk the dogs, show them to potential adopters and have fun doing it. Most events are on Saturdays - there may some that pop up on a weekday at times.
If you are a groomer, we would love to have you groom some of our dogs. Even a bath or good brushing makes them feel better! We have everything set up for that - just bring your own tools!
Please call the center at 801-355-7387 and let us know when you would like to come in. You will have to attend an orientation that takes maybe an hour. Ask when our next one is. We love our volunteers!

Mission Statement
Utah Animal Adoption Center is dedicated to reducing the tragedies of pet overpopulation and animal suffering and eliminating euthanasia as a means of pet-population control in Utah's shelters, since 1983. UAAC does not euthanize healthy animals. We accomplish this mission through various programs, including rescues, low-cost spaying/neutering, humane education, and a successful horse-rescue and adoption program.
Description
Utah Animal Adoption Center prioritizes saving unclaimed, unadopted yet friendly animals from being euthanized at traditional animal-control shelters and The Humane Society of Utah. UAAC is Utah's largest and oldest no-kill animal rescue organization, serving Utah's orphaned companion animals since 1983. In 2007 the organization moved to a new 3.5 acre sanctuary at north of downtown Salt Lake City, where we shelter, neuter, feed, provide routine and emergency veterinary care for about 45 dogs, 70 cats, and 2 of our "Ambassador" rescued horses awaiting adoption. With 6 paid staff and dozens of dedicated volunteers and participating vets, UAAC saves and finds homes for about 1,600 orphaned animals every year, earning us the honor of "Petsmart Charities' National Humane Organization of the Year" in 2001.
