The VA strives to Honor America' Veterans by providing exceptional healthcare that improves their health and well-being. Background check, fingerprinting, and TB test must be passed before volunteering can begin. Assignments are available in Palo Alto and Menlo Park

Escort Volunteers provide manpower in assisting hospital personnel in meeting the needs of patients. Volunteer shifts are Monday - Friday 8 am to Noon, and Noon to 4 pm. Looking for volunteers that are m ature, positive and service-oriented individuals; have the physical ability to withstand long periods of walking and standing. Must be able to communicate clearly in English, but bilingual skills are helpful; Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills; knowledge of effective infection control procedures; assertiveness-must be comfortable approaching busy staff members. Training is a s determined by the Chief, Volunteer Service. Volunteer responsibilities: Sign in, wear proper uniform and ID badge. Take calls for service requests. Transport patients (in accordenc with transport policies). Pick up and deliver specimens, medical records; run general errands as needed by hospital staff and patients.

We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
