Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad

Individuals between the ages of 16 and 18 are invited to join the Cadet Corps, where they learn and perform EMS skills under the direct supervision of senior members of the Squad. Upon their 18th birthday, cadets may transition to regular membership. We offer EMT classes to all our members, including cadets, in the fall, spring, and summer.

The purpose of this organization is to save lives, relieve the suffering of the sick and injured, and promote safety.

Description

The Princeton First Aid & Rescue Squad, PFARS, is the primary provider of Emergency Medical and Technical Rescue services to Princeton and Princeton University in Mercer County, New Jersey. Founded in 1939, we are a volunteer-led, non-profit department and not a division of any hospital or municipality. PFARS is staffed 24 hours a day by approximately 90 rigorously trained volunteer and career personnel. PFARS offers its members the NJ Emergency Medical Technician course and other advanced medical and operational courses to maintain a cohesive and trained membership. Members of the community who are interested in volunteering with the Squad are encouraged to visit www.pfars.org, e-mail recruiting@pfars.org, or call (609) 924-3338 to learn more about EMS, technical rescue, and administrative opportunities.
