The meal helpers at the Betty Ehart Senior Center in Los Alamos volunteer from 11:00 - 1:00 and set up for the congregate meals, help seniors with lunch trays and drinks, and help to put away tablecloths and centerpieces after the lunch meal. We are looking for meal helpers for Tuesdays and Fridays. There is also a need for substitute meal helpers. LAVA will contact substitute meal helpers when a regularly scheduled meal helper is unavailable for their shift. Lunch is provided for meal helper volunteers.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO) is to provide service, fellowship, instruction and advocacy for retirees and senior citizens. The senior activity sites are places where seniors will learn, share meals, socialize, have fun and support each other as they interact with a respectful and service oriented staff.
Description
Los Alamos Volunteer Association (LAVA) is the volunteer arm of the Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization. LAVA matches senior volunteers with non-profits in Los Alamos County and tracks volunteer hours for these volunteers. Additionally, LAVA is involved in a state funded pilot program to promote intergenerational volunteerism. As a result, LAVA is signing up volunteers of all ages.
