Build up your leadership experience by helping Gather Baltimore to manage our day-to-day volunteer activities! As an organization that relies heavily on volunteer engagement, we spend a great deal of time coordinating and managing volunteers. We are currently looking for a handful of committed volunteers to help share that responsibility and free up our small staff to focus more attention on expanding our impact in Baltimore!
At present, we host volunteer groups every week from Thursday-Sunday, usually from 10am-2pm. During this time, volunteers help us sort and prepare donated surplus produce for distribution in the form of our Healthy Blue Bags. Ideally, we would love to find four volunteer leaders, each of whom could regularly commit to one day per week. Responsibilities may include taking attendance, assigning tasks to other volunteers, leading preparation of Healthy Blue Bags, communicating with volunteers over Facebook and email, etc.
The work is not too difficult, but we are looking for individuals who are able to be punctual and flexible (as working with a donation-based non-profit can be a little inconsistent), and who are comfortable with basic computer tasks.
Come join our family! We truly do have a wonderful community of volunteers, and we would love to add you to it :)

About Gather Baltimore
Location:

Mission Statement
A volunteer-based program that collects excess vegetables, fruit, and bread from local retail sources and farmers markets for distribution to meal programs, faith communities, and others in need.
Description
Gather Baltimore is a volunteer-based program, created by OSI fellow Arthur Morgan, that collects unsold vegetables, fruit and bread from the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar in downtown Baltimore and other sources for redistribution to local citizens in need. The baked goods, fruit and seasonal produce collected would otherwise be thrown away as it will not stay fresh until the next market. Gather Baltimore ensures that this food does not become waste but instead is made available to financially challenged families in communities where fresh healthy food is not readily accessible.
