For over 50 years, Community Services Agency has been providing vital social services for residents of Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. We understand that hardship can come at any time and knows no age limit. We provide a safety net so independence and self-sufficiency can be restored and maintained. Our clients may be a young, working poor family or an elderly person looking for companionship. We have multiple volunteer opportunities.
Food and Nutrition Center Food Collection Volunteer
Volunteers basic function is to pick-up food from local market and deliver to the Food and Nutrition Center. Locations were volunteers may work Mountain View or Los Altos, local market and Food and Nutrition Center. Volunteer job responsibilities: collect donated food from local market. Load food into truck or vans and transport to Community Service Agency. Assist with unloading donations at Food and Nutrition Center. Assist with weigh-in and refrigeration if needed. Minimum Qualifications/Skill Set: Self directed and reliable. Volunteers must be able to lift boxes of food. Volunteers must have a current CA driver's license and minimum state auto insurance. Training: On the job training will be provided. Time Commitment: Minimum one shift per week, 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Weekday mornings. Six month commitment preferred.
Food and Nutrition Distribution Volunteer
Work with a team of volunteers to provide supplemental food to CSA clients. Work Location: Food & Nutrition Center, Community Services Agency, Mountain View. Duties/Responsibilities: May vary depending on assigned shift. Provide assistance where needed and as established by Food and Nutrition Manager. Sort, package and shelve or refrigerate donated food items. Prepare food bags for distribution. Assist clients with food selections. Assist with client check-out. Record client use information. Clean work areas as needed and at end of shift. Assist with unloading and weighing donations. Ability to work as part of a team. Minimum skill set volunteers must have ability to lift minimum of 25 pounds. Enjoy working with diverse group of volunteers and clients. Basic computer skills helpful. Volunteers bi-lingual in Spanish or Russian would be very helpful. On the job training is provided to volunteers. Time Commitment: Minimum one shift per month. Weekly commitment preferred. Weekdays 9:00 am - 12:30 pm, or 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
