This is a Farmers Market Collection held at the end of the Saturday Morning Farmers Market in Templeton.
GleanSLO's Farmer's Market Collection Leader is responsible for leading a post-market collection (glean) once a month at Templeton's Saturday morning farmers market and would be responsible for the following:
-Acting as a representative of GleanSLO, equipped with an understanding of the program as well as paper program materials provided by GleanSLO.
-Writing receipts to various donors as necessary.
-Collecting and reporting total pounds of gleaned produce.
-Dropping off collected produce to local partner agency.
Leaders must be able to commit to about an hour of service per month, from about noon-1:00PM on Saturdays at the Templeton Farmers Market located at 6th and Crocker St.

Description
Gleaning is the collection of leftover crops both large and small, from farmers' fields after they have been commercially harvested or from fields where it is not economically profitable to harvest. GleanSLO has expanded this definition to include the collection of surplus produce from backyards and gardens of community residents.
Working closely with growers, GleanSLO employees or volunteer leaders organize harvests to gather the fresh produce. Volunteer pickers sign up online, checking off a liability waiver that protects crop owners.
The produce collected is distributed by the Food Bank Coalition to our neighbors in need. Over 44,000 San Luis Obispo County residents are served by the Food Bank yearly.
