If you are interested in volunteering with us, now is the time! We have a number of volunteer positions available and lots of ways you can get involved. Here is a list of some of our immediate needs:

  • Project designer (5 positions available): Project designers develop new ideas for public art projects and work closely with each site to ensure effective collaboration and execution.

  • Project Remodler (1 position available): A project remodler works with past projects that need maintenance and re-imagining. Work can be done at CME's studio or in artist's own studio.
  • Weekend Workshop Teacher (6 positions available): Workshop teachers are excellent artists and teachers and have the ability to teach school-aged children as well as adults occasionally. This is an ideal volunteer position for someone who would like to volunteer once a month or even once a quarter.

This is a great way to get involved with Color Me Empowered and to get a good understanding of what we do. Project assistant positions are very flexible and are available on:

      • Weeknights
      • Summer
  • Project Planners (2 positions available): Project planners help with the logistics and installation of completed public art projects. Project planners are needed especially during the summer.

Mission Statement

Founded in 2008, Color Me Empowered is a charitable organization dedicated to empowering at-risk children while improving neglected communities through public art. Our hope is that, by engaging the children of a community, we will engage the entire community and bring about positive change. We’re working to improve the quality of our programming by connecting with experienced art teachers to lead each program. With each program, our goal is to improve the community and empower children who take part in our program with the belief that they can change the world for the better.

Description

Our projects tie-in cross-curricular activities, such as math, writing, and creative problem-solving with real-world applications to the subjects students are learning in school. We work on designing civic art projects for a very low cost.

Our goal is to develop 10 programs and serve 1,000 children by the end of 2015.

We believe that giving children the opportunity to improve their immediate community will enable them to see the power of art and the ability within themselves to bring about positive change in their environment.

We work with a team of highly qualified artists, designers, teachers and contractors to provide children with the very best resources to teach them basic art skills while creating public art pieces.
