Join an exciting team during the planning of the 2016 Walk Fest on September 17, 2016! Every year, thousands of people gather on the National Mall in Washington DC during WalkFest led by DC Stop Modern Slavery.

WalkFest helps unify the anti-slavery movement in the following ways:

  • providing a platform for organizations to raise awareness and funds
  • collaborating and engaging with community members
  • exploring innovations in the fight against human trafficking

You will be part of the Leadership Team and lead the Outreach team. The Outreach Team will be responsible for the planning and execution of WalkFest's outreach strategy, including coordinating with contacts in various campuses, faith-based, community, and political organizations to drive WalkFest participation. Responsibilities:

  • Develop WalkFest participant outreach strategy through identification of key stakeholder communities for targeted outreach, particularly faith-based groups and students
  • In collaboration with the Development, Partners, and Volunteers teams, identify and coordinate awareness-generating activities leading up to WalkFest. Activities may include local community events and public appearances
  • Manage online event registration and fundraising platform
  • Communicate with registered walkers prior to and immediately after the WalkFest
  • Work closely with the SMS Communications team to generate and distribute marketing content to targeted groups

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous event-planning experience
  • Previous sales and/or outreach experience
  • Public speaking experience
  • Organized & detail oriented
  • Intermediate technology skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic anti-human trafficking knowledge
