Join an exciting team during the planning of the 2016 Walk Fest on September 17, 2016! Every year, thousands of people gather on the National Mall in Washington DC during WalkFest led by DC Stop Modern Slavery.
WalkFest helps unify the anti-slavery movement in the following ways:
- providing a platform for organizations to raise awareness and funds
- collaborating and engaging with community members
- exploring innovations in the fight against human trafficking
The Communications Director will lead the Communications team. The team will be in charge of all relations with the media, social media platforms, and website design.
Responsibilities:
- Develop communications strategy online and via the media
- Manage the development press releases, relations with media, content on social media and website, promotions materials under the advisement of the WalkFest Director leading up to the event.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Previous and/or current experience in Public Relations/Communications
- Public speaking experience
- Organized & detail oriented
- Skills in Photoshop, Website management, Graphic Design Software, Social Media Management
- Basic anti-human trafficking knowledge
Commitment
- The time commitment for this position is approximately 5-10 hours per week (including evenings and weekends). Hours will likely increase in the weeks leading up to the event in September, 2016. We are looking to fill the position immediately and responsibilities will last until October 2016. This position is unpaid.
